Picking the photographer for your day is as important if not more than choosing your gown! Why? Because even a terrible gown choice can be made to look like a million bucks if you have the right photographer.
We were so extremely lucky to have our beautiful day captured by Jody from I Do Photogr aphy . With over 10 years experience in the industry, Jody comes with a wealth of wedding knowledge and her style and editing create the most magical shots which have been featured heavily in both New Zealand Weddings m agazine and also internationally.
Jody got in touch with us quite early on in our process to get the scoop on where we had decided to get married, our theme, any special details and also what family would be attending the big day so she could make sure she got the all important family shots.
It was important that we met Jody in person a few weeks before the wedding to check out the venue together and also possible shoot locations around the venue. It's totally normal for any bride and groom to be a little nervous when meeting their photographer for the first time, this person will be capturing the most intimate moments of your day so its important that you have some kind of connection.
Our nerves quickly dissolved when we met Jody. She approached us both with arms wide open and from that moment on she continued to put us at ease. She is lovely, friendly, warm, professional and very knowledgable when it comes to magic locations around Auckland. You can’t help but love her and we truly felt blessed to have her as part of our day.
On the day of the wedding, Jody floated around effortlessly, she was a gentle calming presence that fitted into our group as if she was a member of the family, capturing candid moments, all the tears and the little memories that one forgets even happened with all the excitement and hype. Jody was also great at giving direction when it was needed, to coach you in to the best angle or position to nail those all important bridal shots. She was also so flexible with her timing which allowed us to get both the groomsmen getting ready first before she joined the excitement of the girls hair and makeup, champagne and dresses going on.
One of our favorite memories of the day was the bridal party photos. Our bridal party absolutely adored Jody, who had taken it upon herself to drive the van with the 10 of us around Birkenhead to some magical locations she had scouted prior to the big day. She fitted in with our group so well and made us all feel so comfortable in front of the camera.
