What got you into cosmetics and makeup application?
I have always been a huge makeup fan, from my early teens. I love how it can build confidence, and give people that extra lift in their step, even just by popping on a lipstick.

I have been lucky enough to be able to use my skills to help my clients look and feel amazing for their special events, such as weddings. I also love to give my clients tips on how they can create amazing makeup looks themselves, which is how my makeup lessons started, as well as my cosmetic line. In short - you can just say I am just obsessed with makeup.

Why is it so important for brides to have their makeup done professionally on their wedding day?
Firstly, your wedding day is the one day where you should really feel special and be pampered. Having a team to come in and look after you (in the way of hair and makeup) takes away some of the stress and allows you to relax and spend some quality time with your bridal party before the big event – as well as feel amazing!

Secondly, a professional makeup artist/hair stylist will ensure you get a flawless, long-lasting finish for your photos – whether you are just after a natural look or full glam, you still need to ensure you have good coverage and flattering colours to enhance your overall bridal look.

Let a professional help you create the look you are after, and take the stress of yourself.

How long should brides expect, in terms of timing, for full bridal makeup?
Allow 45 minutes to an hour for full bridal makeup. For full bridal hair and makeup allow one and a half to two hours, depending on the complexity of the hair.

Normally you would do a bridal trial prior to the big day, so this shortens the time required on the day, but it’s always good to allow some extra time for those unexpected things!

I have qualified, amazing hair and makeup artists on my team, which means that we can look after larger bridal parties in a shorter amount of time (no 4am starts!).

What do we do at the makeup trial?
The makeup and hair trial is the perfect chance to try out your desired look to ensure it’s what you will feel happy with on the day – this is an essential.

I always encourage my clients to bring along any pictures they like, so I get a sense of their desired style. I also find out what amount of makeup they are used wearing (days vs night), as It’s important to still feel like yourself.

The gown and jewellery are also important factors in the bridal look, and it all pieces together to create the final look.

What is a trick you love using for bridal makeup?
A good primer and setting powder is essential for a long-lasting bridal look. I swear by my Eleanor Dorn Makeup Highlighting Shimmer Powder, because it gives such a fresh glow to the complexion.

The Eleanor Dorn Makeup collection is an extension of myself and my passion for makeup. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to be able to provide people quality tools and products to help them look and feel amazing, so I am so excited to share it with everyone!
