Just like every couple’s wedding vision, Vinka Design has its own distinctive style. The talent of Anita Turner, the second-generation designer of Vinka Design (Anita’s mum, the recently honoured Vinka Lucas, founded the brand in 1959) is on display through quality laces, fabrics and the intricacy and skill required to create beautifully bespoke gowns for her brides. “The team and I go the extra mile when it comes to bringing to life a dream dress for a woman,” explains Anita. “Every gown is designed and handmade in-house, where we employ the mastery of the craft.”
Much like high fashion, wedding gown styles are forever evolving. “Royal weddings have a large impact on trends and styles, and last year’s nuptials between the now Duke and Duchess of Sussex has inspired minimalist designs for many.” In saying that, there’s still huge variation, because every bride is unique. “Brides still favour intricate beading, floral patterns and dimensional laces for their dream gowns – and working together with each woman to merge their style and our expertise is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.”
Adding to Vinka Design’s impressive boutique of gowns is their most recent arrivals – 15 new styles forming the Secret Garden collection. “We were inspired by new fabrics and laces which we had specially made-to-order. The key ideas are minimalist fabrics with dramatic silhouettes – fitted, figure-hugging gowns paired with intricate laces, and soft, romantic gowns with floral accents to tie it all together.”
Complete Your Look
Take advantage of Vinka Design’s full display of jewels, statement earrings, necklaces and hair pieces. “Veils are more popular than ever!,” Anita tells. Shorter veil lengths (see an example of their short veil on page 119) are a simple way to complete a bride’s look.
