"Todd and I met on the dance floor six years ago – he made an impression by literally sweeping me off my feet! Six months later, he went to the UK for a cricket season. During his time away, we decided to only keep in contact via handwritten letters. It was old fashioned, but it was so exciting and made my anticipation for Todd’s return even stronger. He proposed on a picturesque cliff edge while we were hiking in Australia's Blue Mountains. He had barely dropped to one knee, but I already knew my answer!

We said “I do” at The Officers Mess Fort Takapuna, Auckland. The venue was styled by the mother-daughter Florentina team – who happen to be my aunt Chrissy, and cousin Elizabeth. With shades of green and white, they created a classic yet wild theme, fashioning foliage into hanging wreaths, and adorning tables with texture-rich floral installations. Chrissy also created an
uber-personalised bouquet for me, gathering white roses and peonies plus greenery from the gardens of close family and friends.

My Rue de Seine dress was the first I tried on. The cotton and silk gown was the ideal mix of boho, elegant and vintage vibes – I loved its intricate embroidery, low back and minimalist straps. Todd looked dapper in his classic black tux from Mister Mister, complete with a velvet black bow tie.

Our special day was a total team effort – family and friends helped wherever they could. We showed our gratitude by writing personalised notes to every guest – it was a simple touch, but everyone raved about the messages they had received.

There were many hilarious moments throughout the day, but the bride and groom shoe game – which we played at the beginning of our reception – is a real stand out. The room was full of laughter as Todd held up bikini bottoms suggesting he would age better, whilst I held up a rugby ball indicating I was the better dancer. The questions, prepared by good friends Steve and Olivia, gave friends and family insight into our relationship whilst making fun of some of our unique traits as a couple. We loved every second and my stomach hurt with laughter – it was the perfect reflection of our relationship.
